The third season of Yellowjackets premieres early next year, and Showtime released a trailer this weekend that gives us a tease of what’s in store for characters young and old.
It’s not a spoiler to say that things won’t be great for the (un)lucky survivors of the plane crash! This video seems to imply that we might finally find out who is under that mask in the first season’s cannibalistic opening scene, though of course, that could be a cruel, cruel fake out. What is clear, however, is that someone is out to murder the now-adult survivors, and that the ghost of Teen Jackie (Ella Purnell) will be back.
We also get a glimpse of Hilary Swank’s new character, who gets beat up here in what I presume was an intentional car crash. Who exactly she’ll be playing, however, remains a mystery. In addition to Swank, Joel McHale (Community) has also joined the show in an undisclosed role, joining returning cast members Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock), Christina Ricci (Z: The Beginning of Everything), Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable), Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under,), Sophie Nélisse (The Book Thief), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers), Sophie Thatcher (Heretic), Sammi Hanratty (Shameless), Courtney Eaton (Mad Max: Fury Road), Liv Hewson (Santa Clarita Diet), Steven Krueger (The Originals), Warren Kole (Shades of Blue), Kevin Alves (Locke & Key), Sarah Desjardins (The Night Agent), Simone Kessell (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings).
The first two episodes of Yellowjackets premiere on Paramount+ (if you have a plan that includes Showtime, that is) on February 14, 2025. Happy Valentine’s Day! It will also air on the Showtime channel on February 16, 2025.
